The 12th International Conference, hosted by the Brazilian Office of the Comptroller General (CGU), kicked off on 26 May 2021 with the first of our ICIC Wednesdays and our first session open session.

The webinar, a panel discussion on “Transparency and Trust in Pandemic Times”, was broadcast live via ICIC’s YouTube channel. A recording of the thought-provoking event can be found here

The webinar opens with remarks to launch the full ICIC 2021 conference from UK Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham, Chair of the ICIC Governance Working Group, and Wagner de Campos Rosário, Chief Minister of the Office of the Comptroller General (CGU), Brazil.

Elizabeth and Wagner then hand over to Toby Mendel, Executive Director of the Centre for Law and Democracy, who mediated our panel of esteemed colleagues from the Right to Information field: David Lyon, Director of Surveillance Studies Centre at Queen’s University (Canada), Fatou Jagne Senghore, Regional Director of Article 19 for West Africa and Amy Slipowitz, Research Manager at Freedom House.

2021 hosts, Brazilian Office of the Comptroller General (CGU), will bring together experts and professionals from around the world to discuss specific themes around transparency and access to information in a series of events continuing throughout the year.

Our next ICIC Wednesdays event will be held on 30 June 2021 at 14:00 UTC, a webinar panel discussion on “Blurred boundaries in access to information: home office and public records management”. This and upcoming webinars will be broadcast live via ICIC’s YouTube channel
